Worship Wednesday: Fear is a Liar
Welcome to worship Wednesday. While there are many forms of worship, I am so inspired by music. I feel like God can use songs and lyrics to speak to our hearts. These posts are things that God reveals to me in my time with Him. My hope is that you will be encouraged and blessed by what is shared here.
Warning: This video will probably make you cry.
This week’s worship Wednesday is a song by Zach Williams called Fear is Liar. This song gives me chills when I hear it. Because all of the lies the enemy tells us to try to separate us from God are just that. LIES! This song is so simple and so beautiful. It lists off all these lies from the enemy. That we aren’t a good enough person or we aren’t faithful enough or when he tries to isolate us and make us feel alone, all of it is just LIES.
Jesus did not come to shame you. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1) Jesus did not come to turn around and walk away! “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said “I will never leave you nor forsake you” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)
I know I use this verse a lot but it is just truth! “ The thief came to steal and kill and destroy, I came that they may have life and have it abundantly”! (John 10:10) That says it all right there.
We have to recognize that fear is not from God, fear is the enemy. Satan is fear. Jesus says of the devil in John 8, “He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” (John 8:44) You can replace every time he says “fear” in this song with “Satan” and it will clarify some things!
We have to remember we are victors over fear, over death and over satan through Jesus Christ! “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who has the power of death, that is the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” (Hebrews 2:14-15)
The line “cast your fear in the fire” becomes like putting satan in his place. Cast satan back into the fire! “Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.” (Revelation 20:14). Notice it says “second death” because they are already DEAD. Jesus put satan in his place at the cross! Do not allow yourself to go back into the bondage of fear! Don’t listen to the lies of the enemy. Step out boldly in faith because HE is truth! HE is love. HE is forgiveness. HE is strength. HE is worthy! And He is in you. So that makes you all those things through Him!
“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory to be strengthened with might through His spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height - to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, that you be filled with the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19)
